Sundowns made two changes to the team that thrashed Stellenbosch, as Lyle Lakay and Thapelo Morena were recalled while SuperSport brought back Iqraam Rayners, Thalente Mbatha and Sibusiso Maziko.
The Brazilians were combining well going forward in the early exchanges, creating chances and Khuliso Mudau came the closest on 21 minutes after going through in the box but his low strike across goal missed the bottom corner narrowly wide. SuperSport were absorbing the pressure but had a good chance five minutes later from a counter-attack after a cross by Rayners in the box but Bradley Grobler's outstretched leg could not connect, with only shot-stopper Ronwen Williams to beat.
