MTN South Africa has announced upcoming price increases for its products and services, effective February 1, 2025. The increases will affect various plans and services, including contract subscriptions, out-of-bundle voice rates, USSD services, and itemized billing.
MTN has announced price increases for a number of its products starting February 1, 2025. Contract subscribers will see an average increase of 4.4%, while some may pay as much as 10% more. Subscription fees are rising by an average of 8.3%, out-of-bundle voice rates are increasing by 7%, and USSD services are going up from R0.20 to R0.22 per 20-second session. Even itemized billing is being increased to R20 per month.
While some contracts like My MTNChoice Flexi R220 and My MTNChoice Flexi R180 will see a slight decrease in pricing, other contracts will see significant increases. For example, the MTN Yellow Plan Deluxe will increase from R399 to R439 per month. International SMS will cost R1.69 each. Additionally, MTN is increasing airtime allocation for Flexi and Mega Flex contracts. MTN states that these price adjustments are necessary to maintain network stability and provide a modern connected experience for customers
