A delegation is expected to deliver objections on Wednesday regarding their concerns about some individuals on the list.
Democratic Alliance Gauteng premier candidate Solly Msimanga, alongside DA provincial leader John Moodey, will head to Luthuli House on Wednesday to deliver public objections to the ANC parliamentary list.
The party will head to the ANC’s headquarters to hand over their petition. In a statement, the party said: “Several candidates on the ANC’s list have been implicated in crimes ranging from corruption, maladministration, to sexual assault. “Over the weekend, reports emerged that the ANC’s own integrity committee reportedly recommended the removal of, among others, David Mabuza and Gwede Mantashe. Regardless of this fact, the ANC intends to send their list of criminals, failed public representatives, corruption-fainted officials, and unrepentant thieves to parliament after [the 2019 elections]. These are people who have stolen money from citizens while corrupting government and capturing the state.
Among the names flagged are Mabuza, Mantashe, and Environmental Affairs Minister Nomvula Mokonyane. This comes after weekend reports highlighted that the ANC’s integrity commission recommended that Mabuza, Mokonyane, and Mantashe not make the cut on the party’s list.
