Mounties are asking the public to avoid a rural area north of Langford where an intruder is holed up in someone's home.
Multiple police officers responded to the scene in the 800-block of Finlayson Arm Road, near Goldstream Provincial Park, around 1 p.m. Thursday.
CTV News has learned a resident came home to discover someone inside their house and contacted police.The RCMP told CTV News the intruder is unknown to police and to the homeowner. "Police determined an unknown individual may be armed with a firearm inside the residence and have contained the area," the West Shore RCMP said in a statement.
"There is a heavy police presence in the area," the detachment added. "There is a road closure on Finlayson Arm Road with nearby residents asked to stay inside their homes. The public should avoid the area."
