Motsepe: We Aim To Increase Prize Money

CAF president Patrice Motsepe has reaffirmed his commitment to African football by revealing his prize money plans for the African Football League ., the South African businessman discussed a wide range of topics relating to the sport on the African continent and his role within it.

The 62-year-old has received widespread praise for the work he has done since becoming CAF's leader, which includes the introduction of the African Football League. Speaking about his commitment to growing football in Africa, Motsepe said he believes increasing competition prize money can be one way to combat bribery and corruption on the continent.

"Every club that participated in the African Super League received $1 million just for participating, and we are working to increase that amount," he said. Motsepe also touched on the challenges that African clubs face, with financing being at the top of the list. "Our hope is that African leagues can one day compete at the same level as European leagues."

The South African's term as president is coming to an end ahead of the presidential elections early next year. A number of candidates are reportedly eager to succeed Motsepe, with it currently unclear as to whether or not he will look to be re-elected for a second term.
