Motorists have been advised to postpone travel in the Van Reenen Pass area
The N3 Toll Concession has closed the N3 at the Van Reenen’s Pass because of dangerous conditions including black ice.
It says the snowfall and sudden drop in temperature are causing black ice to form, making the roads at Van Reenens slippery, and there have been reports of trucks losing traction, especially on the uphill sections. with immediate effect. Komisa says the department is considering closing more passes as snow is falling heavily in the Northern parts of the province.
Penhoek pass between Komani and Jamestown, the road has since been closed due to heavy snowfall in the Eastern Cape.
