A Michigan City man died late Sunday afternoon after a motorcyclist struck the back of a tow truck on U.S. 20 near Brummitt Road, officials said.
A Michigan City man died late Sunday afternoon after his motorcycle struck the back of a tow truck on U.S. 20 near Brummitt Road, officials said. Aquira Sparkman, 40, died in the wreck, according to the Porter County Coroner’s Office. Toxicology tests are pending. At approximately 5:39 p.m. a motorcycle was traveling westbound on U.S.
20, and, according to witnesses, Sparkman was traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of traffic, according to a release from Sgt. Ben McFalls, public information officer for the Porter County Sheriff’s Department. While changing lanes in the area of Brummitt Road, he hit the back of a tow truck and was launched off the motorcycle. Sparkman was wearing a helmet but died of his injuries, McFalls said. The crash is still under investigation.
