Former President Kgalema Motlanthe is singing a different tune and wants to provide clarity.
It’s a radical turnaround from comments he made in a BBC interview two years ago where he said the ANC would have to lose the election for the penny to drop.“I then went to say failing which, if the opportunity is not seized, it will require the ANC to hit rock bottom like losing election, is that clear?” he said.
“Will I say to people vote the ANC? Yes, I will say so and from time to time I say so,” the former ANC deputy president said.The country’s economic hub is one of the most heavily contested territories ahead of 8 May polls.Gauteng ANC chairperson David Makhura says the party wants to regain lost ground.
“We would not want to be in power for its sake and we will not go on coalitions with parties that don’t work on our vision,” Makhura said.
