A Boksburg North mother is reeling from the sudden death of her 18-year-old son, Boitumelo Phete , a student at Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen, allegedly due to food poisoning from a leftover scone mixture containing eggs bought from a nearby spaza shop . Boitumelo showed signs of illness after the family ate the scones, and despite treatment at Tambo Memorial Hospital , his condition worsened, leading to organ failure and brain damage.
The police have been informed but have yet to confirm if an investigation is underway. The family also lost Esmerelda Brink’s niece, Victoria Olivia Phillips, 38, a double tragedy on the same day
