She added that she had been married for two years but did not have children. “I feel like I have acquired a new status – Mrs. but didn’t get much more from it except more responsibilities and blame”, she added.

In an anonymous post to a support group for domestic helpers and employers alike, the maid wrote that her employers went back to their home country for about two months. During this time, they left her home alone. “My emp go back to they are country about 2 months and they only gave me $100 for a month to buy food. I want to know is that enought with $100?” the maid asked.

SINGAPORE: A Reddit user wondered out loud what many others may have been thinking, whether it’s “normal” or “appropriate” to talk to strangers in Singapore. “Whenever I’m walking whether it be towards the MRT or a bus or even in my condo, I always try and say hello or at least strike up a bit of small talk with ppl I find interesting, it’s just my way of trying to be ‘polite’.
