The snow began on Monday, with the heaviest precipitation falling overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday. Snow totals had not been reported in the Matanuska Valley early Wednesday, but Kutz said up to 2 more inches was possible by Wednesday afternoon. Initial forecasts for the area called for 4 to 8 inches.Temperatures are expected to drop significantly on Wednesday throughout Anchorage and the Matanuska and Susitna valleys, Kutz said. High temperatures are expected to be in the single digits in West Anchorage and below zero in East Anchorage through the weekend.
