Around £29 million will be paid out in Manchester alone
Households on means-tested benefits will automatically receive £300 between October 31 and November 19, the Department for Work and Pensions has announced this week.

Later this year, more than eight million pensioners will receive an extra £300 alongside their Winter Fuel Payment. Of all the local authority areas in the UK, Birmingham will receive the most cash support - a total of £63 million to 208,800 households. That means one in two households in the city will benefit from the cash. Next is Leeds and then Manchester .
