More than 2,000 residents took part in the city of Aurora's drive-thru electronics recycling event on Sept. 30.

Over 30 tons of electronics were collected Sept. 30 during the city of Aurora’s drive-thru electronics recycling event, city officials said. More than 2,000 Aurora residents took part in the event, which was for residents of the city only. During the free event, residents could bring two televisions of any size and unlimited other approved electronics to be recycled. Lines formed an hour before the 8 a.m. opening, officials said.

25 for residents on the east side of the Fox River and Oct. 31 for residents on the west side, city officials said. The city’s contractor, Kramer Tree Specialists, will complete three collection cycles on each side of the city. The program is anticipated to conclude Nov. 29, officials said. In addition to these curbside collections, Lakeshore Recycling Systems will provide free bagged leaf collection on residents’ regular refuse collection day from Dec. 4 to 27.
