More than 20 000 wounded people still in Gaza after initial evacuations, says MSF
Journalists film as Palestinian health ministry ambulances cross the gate to enter the Rafah border crossing in the southern Gaza Strip before crossing into Egypt on 1 November 2023. Scores of foreign passport holders trapped in Gaza started leaving the war-torn Palestinian territory on 1 November when the Rafah crossing to Egypt was opened up for the first time since the 7 October Hamas attacks on Israel, according to AFP correspondents.
More than 20 000 wounded people are still trapped in the Gaza Strip, according to Doctors Without Borders , despite initial evacuations of foreign passport holders and badly injured Palestinians across the border to Egypt. The organisation went on to call for a greater number of people to be evacuated, as well as for a ceasefire and for more critical aid to be allowed in.Those who wish to leave Gaza must be allowed to do so without further delay. They must also be allowed the right to return.
