The UK Health Security Agency has revealed today, Friday, June 14, that there have now been 211 cases to date in the UK, with 35 of them in Scotland, and 42 per cent of those infected were admitted to hospital.
This has led to a product recall notice being enforced on a sandwich manufacturer who supplies supermarkets by the Food Standards Agency. Darren Whitby, head of incidents at the FSA, said: “This is a complex investigation, and we have worked swiftly with the relevant businesses and the local authorities concerned to narrow down the wide range of foods consumed to a small number of salad leaf products that have been used in sandwiches and wraps.”
