“A proper recovery plan that will restore stability will require the government to stop making changes with no warning, without consultation and little funding and insufficient training for staff,” Littlewood said. Educators are facing the year with some trepidation, Littlewood said. “Despite our best hopes, COVID is not done. The last thing anyone wants to go through is another round of school closures and last-minute decisions.”
Education has been disrupted since the pandemic began in March 2020. Students repeatedly shifted between in-person and online learning and faced the sporadic cancellation or curtailment of extra-curricular activities like sports, bands and clubs. Education Minister Stephen Lecce also uses the word “stable” as he calls for a return this year to a more normal school routine for elementary and secondary students.Article content
