Amid a decline in the birth rate in the U.S., a growing share of childless American adults do not plan on having kids, aSome 44% of adults ages 18-49 who don’t have children said they were “not too likely” or “not at all likely” to have kids down the road, up seven percentage points from 37% in 2018, according to theBoth men and women were equally likely to reply they were unlikely to have children in the future.
More than half of adults who don’t have children and replied they don’t plan on having one said “they just don’t have to have kids,” according to theOther reasons were: medical , financial , no partner , respondents or their partner’s age , state of the world and climate change .
