Ottawa Public Health follows up with anyone who tests positive for the virus as well as each patient’s close contacts. OPH has been offering vaccination to those who have been in close contact with any person who has tested positive, known as post-exposure prophylaxis. It’s also working with community organizations to give vaccines to people at higher risk of monkeypox, known as pre-exposure prophylaxis.
