Lorna wanted to show how to keep costs low and still enjoy the festive season
A money-saving Scots mum has revealed how she’s dishing up Christmas dinner for just £5.71 per portion despite rising food costs.
Lorna, from Paisley, says Christmas is her favourite time of the year and with prices of everyday foods soaring, wanted to show how to keep costs low and still enjoy the seasonal festivities with the family. “My kids get involved in peeling the veggies and wrapping bacon around the sausages which we use from the MuscleFood hamper.”
“As hard as it is, managing your Christmas budget means being realistic about what you need in the run-up, so if there’s anything reduced on the shelf, freeze it and use it for the meal. Lorna also makes cheaper alternatives to traditional Christmas food such as homemade yule logs and large pigs in blankets.
“If we have leftovers such as chicken, I make it into chicken fried rice and freeze it for the week,” Lorna added.
