A large crowd gathered to watch the events unfold
Police arrived in the vicinity of Renshaw Street/Leece Street in the Georgian Quarter shortly after 6pm after reports of a man "acting in an aggressive manner". A video shared by an eyewitness showed six police officers surrounding a man who appears to be handcuffed.

According to police, a meat cleaver was also recovered. Police have confirmed the weapon was not used to injure anyone.
