The Egyptian winger was the scorer of the Reds' solitary goal in their defeat to their bitter rivals as Jurgen Klopp's men remain winless in the 2022/23 Premier League season., however, Salah's strike at Old Trafford ensures that he is now the highest Liverpool goalscorer in the fixture's history with 10 goals, with the forward moving one ahead of club icon Steven Gerrard and three ahead of the trio of Dick Forshaw, Gordon Hodgson, and Harry Chambers.
Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford put the 13-time Premier League champions ahead on the night with strikes either side of half-time as United looked a different proposition to the team coming off back-to-back defeats in the league.Salah managed to give the six-time European champions a lifeline in the 81st minute when he headed the ball past David de Gea, but it was not enough as Erik ten Hag became the first English top-flight manager to defeat Klopp in 2022.
The Pharaoh's goal also means he is now the third-highest-goalscorer for the club as far as the Premier League is concerned – he is now only eight goals behind leader Robbie Fowler.
