Salmaan Moerat initially couldn’t believe he was appointed skipper but the giant lock is ready to lead the Springboks for the first time against Portugal on Saturday.
“Initially I thought it was a typo next to my name. The ‘c’ was quite small. Then he announced it out loud. I just thought to myself, ‘Wow, what an honour and privilege’. “My father played rugby back in the former SARU days and my uncles played rugby as well, so it’s a huge honour for them and for me to captain the Springboks,” he said.
