The MK Party has strongly criticized the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs' decision to end contracts for older South Africans participating in the Community Work Programme (CWP). They argue the move, affecting over 65,000 people, is insensitive amidst a 32.9% unemployment rate and betrays promises made in Circular 07 of 2024. The party accuses the ANC-led GNU of prioritizing budget cuts over the wellbeing of vulnerable workers and calls for immediate reversal of the decision.
