A mixed-use development that includes a hotel is planned for the area between Memorial Parkway and under-rehabilitation Joe Davis Stadium in Huntsville.

The development complements the ongoing $28 million refurbishment of the abandoned baseball stadium that city officials have suggested may someday be home to a minor league soccer team. Once the renovation is completed, city officials have touted the facility as “a regional sports venue.” Altogether, the Stadium Commons concept calls for seven structures in addition to the hotel. The largest building, according to plans, is described as a “market hall” that will include about 14,000 square feet. Another building in the plans has nearly 12,000 square feet.
The flyer promotes the fact that Huntsville is now Alabama’s largest city with a population of more than 215,000 people and the prominent location along Memorial Parkway that will bring more than 120,000 vehicles past the development site every day as well as income levels near the site well above the state average.
