After losing 8-0 to the Cleveland Guardians in the opener of their three-game set on Friday, it didn’t invite much in the way of optimism and prompted a mound visit by pitching coach Pete Walker.
White yielded three hits, walked three and struck out three. Once he righted the ship following his aborted start, he looked good and gave his team a chance, which is all the Jays could ask. Then Teoscar Hernandez led off the seventh with a rocket to straight-away centre for his 17th — sixth of which have been go-ahead blasts.
