, Calgary Wrangles head coach Mitch Love is exploring his options this summer after not getting selected for the Calgary Flames’ bench boss gig.
Love, 38, was believed to be one of the favorites to land the Flames’ coaching job after the team moved on from Darryl Sutter, the 2022 Jack Adams Award winner. The Flames are expected to announce that Ryan Huska, the team’s previous assistant coach, as the team’s next coach. Love’s rise through the ranks has been swift. After retiring from the Central Hockey League in 2011, he was hired as assistant coach with the WHL’s Everett Silvertips for 2011-12, a role he held until 2018. He then took over as coach of the Saskatoon Blades before the Flames snagged him in 2021.
