Miss SA's Bryoni Govender plans to give Miss Universe her all as she readies for upcoming pageant

Miss South Africa 2023 runner-up Bryoni Govender will represent the country on the Miss Universe stage when it takes place later in the year.

The Miss South Africa organisation made the announcement Tuesday morning confirming Govender as Miss Universe South Africa.

"I cannot describe how excited I am to start this Miss Universe journey, and as this new chapter unfolds, I am fully committed to my support of women's equality in South Africa," Govender continued. On why the reigning Miss South Africa decided not to participate in the 2023 Miss Universe, Joubert said,"It caused depression".

About the depression she went through after the Miss Universe pageant, Joubert said she almost lost her sense of purpose and didn't know what she was going to do in her daily life after her elimination because, until then, her life had been filled with various forms of preparation and training.
