Padres prospect Samuel Zavala hits second homer with Storm; Daniel Camarena returns from Tommy John surgery
The 18-year-old center fielder hit his second homer and drove in three runs on four hits in low Single-A Lake Elsinore’sZavala is hitting .212/.349/.364 through 18 games with Lake Elsinore, a repeat assignment after a broken hamate ended last year’s stint in the postseason. He hit .272/.366/.530 with eight homers in 43 games last year with Lake Elsinore.
Lake Elsinore is 16-5 and has a 1½-game lead over Rancho Cucamonga in the California League’s South Division.
