Min Hogg, a former editor of the World of Interiors magazine, championed shabby chic and helped free her readers from the tyranny of professional decorators.
As editor of the London-based magazine from its founding in 1981 until she retired in 2000, Ms. Hogg admired the lived-in look achieved by do-it-yourself decorators. Her photo spreads often showed clutter and sometimes peeling paint. Sumptuous homes were included, but so was an African mud hut.
