Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta gives breakdown of how his side secured 1-0 victory over Everton
Arsenal Mikel Arteta was delighted with how he felt his side were able to limit the impact of Everton’s support in his first win as an opposition manager at Goodison Park.
The 41-year-old added: “I’m really happy, extremely happy with the performance, the way we played. Credit to them, they defend the box really, really well but probably the game should have been very different if Gabriel Martinelli’s goal is allowed – it wasn’t – but I’m super happy today.
The game was expected to be a head-to-head between England international goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Aaron Ramsdale but Arteta brought in David Raya for his debut between the sticks and insisted he might not stop at mere rotation between the pair but making changes in the position during games, a radical ploy he regrets not having done already.
