He set a personal goal of paddleboarding across the Great Lakes as a fundraiser, but in the process, Shoreman also made history as the first Canadian and first person with physical disabilities to cross each of the Great Lakes. The recipient of the Marg Starzynski Mental Health Leadership Award is chosen each year from among many Canadians who work tirelessly to raise awareness of mental health issues.He has been lauded for his achievement in crossing all five Great Lakes, “but this is the biggest honour yet.”A documentary about Shoreman’s Great Lakes crossings will be released in August, 2023.
