Jake Paul is set to fight Mike Tyson now that his bout with bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry is in the books.
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Jake Paul defeated Mike Perry with a sixth-round technical knockout Saturday night before a sold-out crowd at Amalie Arena in Tampa.
Paul, who grew up in Westlake and was brought to the ring on a gladiator’s chariot, floored the underdog Perry three times before the referee halted the bout at 1:12 of the sixth. He opened the fight with an opening-round knockdown before 17,500 fans. After the fight, Paul said, “I truly believed I would knock him out in the first round. But man, that guy is tough. He took damage like no one I’ve ever seen before. But I knew that if I didn’t get him out of there in the first round that it would happen later on in the fight. … He just kept coming. So respect to Mike Perry. That’s why he’s the King of Violence - former King of Violence. I’m the new King of Violence, but respect to him.
