A once-trendy Manhattan hotel housing migrants has descended into a “free for all” of lawlessness and violence — where children are regularly found alone and intoxicated, a former employee said., said that he and his colleagues were concerned daily for their safety at the chaotic, 1,300-room hotel on Eighth Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen, which was converted last year to house migrants flooding into NYC.
“Every day, we find about 10 kids alone in their hotel rooms, either drinking or doing drugs,” he said. Arellano said that he and his former colleagues would find migrant children alone in their rooms every day.Arellano said that he and his colleagues feared for their lives while working at the hotel housing migrants.If a guest’s behavior became so egregious that they got kicked out of the Row, Arellano said the city would merely process them at Port Authority — and send them to another shelter.
