Boro boss Michael Carrick is relishing tonight's Carabao Cup game with Championship rivals Leeds United at Elland Road
The League Cup may not be a priority for either Leeds United or Middlesbrough - but that doesn't mean tonight's first-round clash won't be hotly contested.
“It’s a good draw and we’re looking forward to it," Carrick said of tonight's match. "It’s a good game, a proper game. We’ve sold out our allocation and we’ve got a really good game ahead of us. We’ll go down and attack what is a really good cup tie. I said it a lot last season.
Leeds will make plenty of changes tonight, and Carrick is expected to follow suit as he looks to manage his squad for not just this game but the others that lie ahead too. “I think they’ve got a fantastic squad - a great group of players individually and collectively. You only have to look at last season and how far they went and how close they came to getting to the Premier League. They’ve only played one game this season, so nothing is won or lost yet."
