The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) has confirmed it carried out an overnight strike which it said hit a 'Hezbollah command centre' located in a mosque 'adjacent to' the Salah Ghandour Hospital in southern Lebanon.
The Canadian Prime Minister has urged citizens to leave Lebanon, but a short distance away, long waits for visas have left Gazans in limbo.But in nearby Gaza, thousands are left waiting for the generous promises Canada made to refugees to materialise. A programme was launched in January and in May Canada pledged temporary residency for up to 5,000 Gaza citizens - but just 300 visas have arrived since then, with just 698 applications approved out of 4,200 submitted.
Reem Alyazouri escaped from Gaza City through Egypt, before ending up in Toronto on 4 September. But her parents remain stuck in Cairo as they wait for their own visas to come through. They completed the last major step of the visa process six months ago.'My mind is busy with my parents,' she said. 'I feel guilty, believe me. When I came here and I left them behind they told us, 'Go and start your life.'Don't worry about us.
