By 1997, Microsoft Word on Windows had taken more than 90% of the word processing market share. Later versions have forced integration with Microsoft’s cloud service OneDrive, and it was from there it snowballed into the current 365 ecosystem that tries to emphasize interoperability in Microsoft’s own walled garden.
