Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has issued a statement
Transport bosses have issued a statement on the impact of global IT issues on buses, trams and trains in Greater Manchester. The issue with Microsoft systems has left many banks, airlines, GP surgeries, TV and radio broadcasters and supermarkets experiencing outages.
Transport for Greater Manchester has said that there is currently no major impact on buses, trams or local rail services, although customer information for rail passengers may be affected. However, one local public transport service has been affected. The Local Link and Ring & Ride services, which provide door-to-door transport for people who have difficulty in using other forms of public transport, is not taking any new bookings. Existing bookings that have already been made with these services are not affected.
Network Rail has said the railway's essential train control, communications and running systems are not affected by the IT issues with the vast majority of the network open and running as normal. Some passenger information and train crew roster systems are affected.
