It set off a firestorm of reaction on social media, reacting to an ugly scene in Madison, Wisconsin. What seemed to set it off was Howard being upset at Wisconsin coach Greg Gard calling timeout with 15 seconds left in a well-decided ballgame. Howard was slow to shake hands and when he and Gard met, Gard seemed to grab Howard's arm. The Michigan coach seemed to then take offense and both teams gathered.
After being ushered away, Howard took a swing an his open right hand connected with the face of what appeared to be Wisconsin assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.
