MI Cape Town made a strong start to the SA20 2025 season with a convincing victory over Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Dewald Brevis's powerful batting and Delano Potgieter's exceptional bowling performance led MI Cape Town to a dominant win.

The Sunrisers crashed to a 97-run defeat to MI Cape Town in the opening game of the 2025 competition, played in front of a sold-out crowd, who were left stunned by what unfolded at St George’s Park.
None of the home team’s batters got going after New Zealander Trent Boult, with two wickets in two balls in his first over, and Azmatullah Omarzai made the initial breakthroughs early on. In his first over, the 11th, he got rid of Beyers Swanepoel, David Bedingham and Aiden Markram. In his follow-up over he also removed Liam Dawson before sending Richard Gleeson’s wickets tumbling.Earlier, Brevis was the main contributor of MI Cape Town getting to their score of 174/7.
