Should Counsell choose to continue managing at the end of his contract, the Mets gig won’t be just handed to him. Stearns intends to conduct a wide-ranging search for the position outside of the organization.Still, Counsell’s resume in baseball will certainly play a factor and could catapult him to the top of the list.
In 2015, he was hired as manager of the Brewers, where he has been ever since. In nine years managing Milwaukee, Counsell has a 702-625 record .
