Meta and TikTok to tackle trafficker posts advertising Channel crossings in partnership with crime agency
Traffickers have reportedly used social media to advertise Channel crossings to the UK as if they were tourist trips, offering discounts and special offers Social media giants are set to team up with the National Crime Agency in a bid to crack down on people smugglers’ posts encouragingThe Prime Minister said that the law enforcement agency will form a new partnership with tech firms including the owners of Facebook, TikTok and Twitter.
The Prime Minister hopes that the new initiative will help remove posts promising group discounts, free spaces for children and offers of false documents.
