The national weather service has updated its information on the thunderstorms it predicts will impact part of England on the afternoon of Sunday, September 10
The Met Office has warned a 'line of severe thunderstorms' is expected to soon strike parts of Nottinghamshire. .
It has issued a new alert, stating "a line of severe thunderstorms will push quickly northeast across the East Midlands and northern East Anglia", which according to the forecasters will include parts of southern and eastern Nottinghamshire. Met Office maps detail that parts of the Rushcliffe borough and the Newark and Sherwood district are within the storm's range - including towns like Bingham and Newark.
The warning started at 2.54pm and will end at 6pm, according to the Met Office's website. The weather experts said people should expect a small chance homes and businesses could be damaged by lightning strikes, hail or strong winds.It also said there was a slight chance power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
