According to the Met Eireann website, the warning was issued at 10:49am this morning, December 12, and will come into effect from 12pm today until midnight on Tuesday.
Met Eireann has issued a new Status Orange warning for parts of the country as the cold temperatures look set to continue.
Many parts of the country will be impacted by this freezing fog, including Connacht, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary. A brief statement alongside the warning said: “Freezing fog, dense in places, will persist through the afternoon and into tonight, leading to very hazardous driving conditions.”
It comes as Met Eireann has, unsurprisingly, forecasted “bitterly cold” conditions, with ice and severe frost expected alongside the freezing fog.
