The summer months have been filled with continuous showers and heavy rain at times, however, it looks like autumn with start out with much drier conditions in September

Met Eireann has predicted “below average” rain for September as a date has been confirmed for the showers to stop.

It read: “Above average temperatures are very likely for Ireland for the SON period, though the likelihood decreases as the period progresses. “However, many models have a slight signal for below average rainfall in September with the potential for higher than average rainfall increasing marginally in October and November. “The sea surface temperatures around Irish coasts and over the Atlantic are expected to continue above average during the period, trending 0.5 to 2.0 °C degrees higher than normal.”

Thursday, 24 August Tomorrow morning there will be sunny spells and isolated showers, mainly in Ulster. More frequent showers will develop in the northwest during the early afternoon and will extend southeastwards. The southeast will stay dry for most of the day though. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with a light to moderate westerly wind.
