Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo branded 'full throttle sportswashing' by Amnesty International
The Saudi Arabia friendly which will see Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi do battle for perhaps the final time has been labelled ‘sportswashing at full throttle’ by Amnesty International.
Amnesty have previously hit out at the country’s attempts to gain legitimacy through sports despite their appalling humans rights record, while the friendly has garnered plenty of attention from across the world.“This match is a reminder that Saudi Arabia’s sportswashing efforts are still operating at full throttle,” Amnesty UK’s economic affairs director Peter Frankental said.
