Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled the entry-level version of the new GT coupé. The GT43 doesn’t have a V-8, but it does have a potent four-cylinder.
The German automaker’s performance sub-brand has just unveiled the GT43, the entry-level version of its flagship coupé. The sleek two-door may only have a four-cylinder mill under the hood, but it still packs plenty of punch.The main difference between the GT43 and the other members of the GT coupé line is the powertrain. While the versions that debuted last summer, the, are powered by V-8 engines, the base model has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
9 seconds and tops out at 186 mph, while the GT63 hits 62 mph in 3.2 seconds and tops out at 196 mph. Again, there’s a difference, but not enough that anyone should be put off by the GT43.The base model also looks slightly different than its more brutish siblings. It has a smoother shape that’s less aggressive. The front fascia, in particular, has a less imposing grille and softer lines. The three GT coupés are all clearly related, but the GT43 just looks less intense.
