The Ohio EPA awarded $3.2 million to organizations across Ohio for all-electric school buses, one of the recipients was the city of Mentor.
Mentor received a grant that will pay for 75% of the new all-electric school bus, while the city itself will pay the rest of that 25%.
The grant aims to upgrade some of the diesel equipment that is used to greatly reduce emissions across Ohio. “We’re excited that we can roll something out that’s unique to us, and unique to this area,” Assistant City Manager of Mentor Robert Fowler said. Some of the other organizations that received the grant include: Dutch Maid Logistics, Inc, Exel Inc. dba DHL Supply Chain , KWA Inc. Ltd, Metalico Akron Inc., Ruan Transport Corporation, and Shaker Heights City Schools.
“There will be no impact on the persons being transported,” said Fowler. “It’ll just mean that one bus will drive a little bit more, the electric bus we anticipate will have a little bit more service time.”$1,000 worth of clothing stolen from Steelyard Commons store, Cleveland police say
