It literally covers everything from sweatshirts to socks.
Looks like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are making their split from Kensington Palace even more official. The royal couple have reportedly filed a trademark for their personal royal foundation, Sussex Royal The Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The filing was published last week—but according to People and the Intellectual Property Office’s website, the trademark was first filed on June 21.
The trademark covers a variety of things, including"posters; art prints; notebooks; postcards; greeting cards; paper and cardboard; photographs" and even"stationery." It also covers"Clothing; footwear; headgear; t-shirts; coats; jackets; anoraks; trousers; sweaters; jerseys; dresses; pyjamas; suits; sweat shirts; hooded tops; caps; hats; bandanas; headbands; socks; scarves and neckwear; gloves" and"sportswear.
But before you start picturing yourself in a Sussex Royal sweatshirt, keep in mind that a trademark protects Harry and Meghan's intellectual property. By making sure they're the ones who own the rights to Sussex royal branded clothing, it means no one else can legally sell it. As People notes, Harry and Meghan can now “take legal action against anyone who uses” the brand without their permission, so please abandon your plans to produce a line of Sussex Royal anoraks, thx!
