Austin Meadows and Brandon Lowe combined for four home runs to lead the Rays past the BlueJays in Tampa Bay's fifth-straight win.

TORONTO — Austin Meadows and Brandon Lowe both homered twice, Willy Adames added some insurance with a two-run shot in the ninth, and the American League East-leadingMike Zunino, Kevin Kiermaier and Tommy Pham also drove in runs as Tampa extended its win streak to five games.

Justin Smoak cut the deficit to 8-7 in the eighth, scoring on a fielding error before Tampa intentionally walked Hanson to bring up Maile with the bases loaded and two out. Deigo Castillo struck out the Jays catcher on a borderline 3-2 pitch to end the inning. Toronto didn’t get its first base-runner until the fourth inning when Chirinos issued a lead-off walk to Randal Grichuk. Richard Urena got the Blue Jays’ first hit later in the inning, a two-out single.

Montoyo spent the last four seasons as a coach with Tampa . He also managed Tampa’s triple-A affiliate Durham Bulls for eight seasons before that.
