PETALING JAYA: The Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has set up an email and WhatsApp line for complaints against any online postings that insult race, religion or the royal institution.

said complaints could be made via Whatsapp at 016-2206262 or emailed to mediasosial@mcmc.gov.my.

"The platform makes for an easier process and fast enforcement action against any post containing insults against race, religion or the royal institition with the cooperation of other stakeholders. "Malaysians are urged to take screenshots and the page's uniform resource locator and send it to the above-mentioned platforms if the questionable post is made via social media,"he said, adding that any negative content spread via Whatsapp must be filed together with a screenshot of the content and the telephone number of the individual who sent it.

"MCMC would like to remind Malaysians to practise moderation when commenting on sensitive issues to maintain the peace and harmony achieved through understanding from 62-years ago. "Any comments or statements containing negative elements which could threaten unity amongst the races here must be stopped immediately for the sake of everyone,"he said, adding that people should think before they make a statement or comment on sensitive issues.
